To mark the 30th anniversary of The Armory Show, the 2024 iteration of the art fair will bring together three curators working in New York to lead curatorial initiatives under the overarching theme of art historical reverberations in the present day.Independent curator Eugenie Tsai, previously a longtime curator of contemporary art at the Brooklyn Museum, has been tapped to lead The Armory Show’s Platform section, which explores the fair’s theme through large-scale installations and site-specific works.Robyn Farrell, senior curator at New York arts non-profit The Kitchen, will curate the fair’s Focus section. The Focus section reflects on The Armory Show’s founding at The Gramercy Hotel in 1994 and the fair’s namesake International Exhibition of Modern Art in 1913 at New York City’s 69th Regiment Armory, and typically includes more experimental works.Lauren Cornell, the director of the Graduate Program at the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College and the chief curator of the Hessel Museum of Art on campus will chair the fair’s seventh annual Curatorial Leadership Summit (CLS). It will be the second iteration of the fair since it was purchased by the London-based art fair and media company Frieze.
