Corrections Policy

Last Updated: February 2026

Art News Chicago is committed to accuracy, transparency, and accountability in all published content. We believe that trust is earned through clear communication and prompt correction of errors. This Corrections Policy explains how we handle mistakes, updates, and reader feedback.

1. Our Commitment to Accuracy

We strive to ensure that all information published on Art News Chicago is:

  • accurate

  • clearly sourced

  • up‑to‑date

  • presented in good faith

Despite our best efforts, errors may occur. When they do, we correct them promptly and transparently.

2. How We Handle Corrections

When an error is identified, we will:

  • verify the mistake

  • correct the information

  • add a note if the correction is significant

  • update the timestamp if appropriate

Minor edits (grammar, formatting, clarity) may be made without a correction note.

3. Types of Corrections

A. Minor Corrections

Small errors such as typos, formatting issues, or non‑material clarifications. These are corrected silently.

B. Factual Corrections

Errors involving dates, names, locations, or factual details. These include a correction note at the bottom of the article.

C. Major Corrections

Errors that materially change the meaning or interpretation of the story. These include a clear correction note and may include an updated timestamp.

4. How to Request a Correction

If you believe an article contains an error, please contact us at:

editorial@artnewschicago.com

Include:

  • the article title

  • the URL

  • a description of the issue

  • supporting information (if available)

We review all correction requests within 48–72 hours.

5. Updates vs. Corrections

Not all changes are corrections.

Updates

Used when new information becomes available (e.g., event changes, added details). These may include an “Updated” note.

Corrections

Used when previously published information was incorrect.

6. Removal Policy

We generally do not remove published content unless:

  • it violates our policies

  • it contains sensitive personal information

  • it poses a legal or safety concern

Requests for removal are evaluated on a case‑by‑case basis.
